It’s no wonder Phyllis Rasnick named her company Action Realty and Properties, LLC, because that is exactly what she jumps into — action — when selling a property.

A firm believer in the power of consistent advertising, Rasnick says, “When you see an Action billboard or ad, it is going to have a property we’re moving. The more people we can expose your property to, the more sales we are going to have.”

A member of three MLS systems, Rasnick’s marketing plan includes advertising through Charter television, many billboards, newspapers, real estate books, and radio.

Rasnick’s “action attitude” for real estate has been handed down to her from two prior generations. Her father, Charles Baugh, built the Villager Resort, while her grandfather, Fred Baugh, built several well-recognized structures in the Somerset area, including the hospital and the Catholic church. She says her grandfather was known for the circular porches and arches he built on area homes.

Thinking she and her husband, Jim, were going to retire in 1999, they moved back to her Somerset roots and built their home. (The couple has three daughters and three grandchildren.) Little did they know then, they would be right back into the real estate business. Rasnick said many of her friends were interested in the area and the real estate it had to offer. She decided to get her license and get back into the business.

Never dreaming her company would grow into what it has, Rasnick attributes her growth to the Pulaski County area and what it has to offer: good roads, easy access to interstate highways, excellent medical community, aggressive education programs, low cost of living and great recreation and boating.

With an impressive 23 active agents under her brokerage now, and five new agents coming on board, Rasnick’s team has expanded into Danville, with a planned office in Lexington. She is also a distributor of Barna Log Homes. This month, Action Real Estate and Properties is opening another office on South Highway 27.

For Phyllis Rasnick, it’s not just about business. She believes in giving back to the community. She does so through sponsoring scholarships and aggressively advertising her listings to the public.

“I’ve always believed in giving back to the community,” she said, noting that the two scholarship she currently sponsors will expand into four next year. Her company also sponsors the local Athlete of the Week in the Commonwealth Journal.

Rasnick is also looking into starting a mentoring program to educate individuals wanting to be in a position to improve their chances at becoming home buyers.

“This has really been our year, and we’re primed to grow even larger,” Rasnick said.

Action has currently about 285 properties listed. “We look forward to showing property with you,” Rasnick says.
