Two-time track state champion Kendal Burgess won the long jump event in the AAU Junior Olympics Region 6 qualifying meet at Hardin Valley Academy in Knoxville, Tenn. Burgess, who the long jump event with a best of 17'5.5", will now advance to the Junior Olympic National Track Championships in Greensboro, N.C., on Thursday, Aug. 1. Burgess, who is competing for the Kentucky Elite Track Club, qualified for the AAU Region by winning AAU Kentucky District qualifier. Burgess is competing in the girls 15-16 year-old division.
