The Pulaski girls tennis team dropped their first match of the season with a 3-6 loss to Lincoln County on Monday.

Pulaski’s Jaymee Meece picked up 6-1 singles win over Lincoln’s Brittany Gooch and Lady Maroons’ Heather Vaught won over Laura Gover by a score of 6-1.

Pulaski top-seed Brittany Stykes lost to Hailey Hart of Lincoln by a score of 0-6, while Pulaski’s Elizabeth Cherry was barely edged out by Lincoln’s Alissa Ellis by a count of 5-7. Pulaski’s Brandi Burton lost her match to Sarah Nolen by a score of 4-6, and Pulaski’s Natalie Pitman lost to Lynsey Robbins 0-6.

In doubles, Pulaski’s Heather Vaught and Jo Jo Burkett won their match 6-1 over Brittany Sinard and Sydney Crowley. The team of Brandi Burton and Elizabeth Cherry lost their doubles match by a score of 3-6

Top-seeded doubles team of Brittany Stykes and Jaymee Meece lost 0-6 to Lincoln’s Ellis and Nolan.

“I am proud of the way we played and most of the matches were pretty close.” Pulaski coach Kevin Cook said. “We started out a little nervous for our first matches of the season, but then settled down to play some good tennis.”

The Pulaski boys and girls tennis teams will host Mercer County today at 3:30 p.m.
