In a battle of undefeated teams last night at PC Field, it was the Pulaski County Maroons rolling to 4-0 on the season while dropping visiting Russell County to 3-1 with a 49-21 victory over the Lakers.
Maroon quarterback Riley Hall had a huge night through the air, completing 15 of 24 pass attempts for a game-high 288 yards and 5 touchdowns.
George Gregory hauled in 7 receptions for 99 yards, which included a 33-yard TD pass that gave PC its first touchdown of the game.
Aaron Smith led the way for the Maroons with 3 catches for 125 yards and two scores — a 9-yard TD catch and a 61-yard scoring play.
Meanwhile, the Pulaski County defense turned in another stellar effort, forcing the Lakers into 5 turnovers for the contest – 3 interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
Jacob Denney intercepted two passes off of Russell County quarterback Blake Ellis, thwarting a pair of Laker drives.
Ellis had a huge night on the ground for Russell County, rushing for a game-high 179 yards on 18 attempts, which included touchdown runs of 37 and 67 yards respectively.
With the win, PC moved to a perfect 4-0 on the season, and will round out the non-district portion of its schedule next week on the road at Rockcastle County.
