The Somerset Christian Cougars will be in a tough spot tonight, as Alan Ricks’ squad will be set to host the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association’s 4th Regional Basketball Tournament.

And, the task at hand for the Cougars is going to be a tall order indeed.

Somerset, a four seed, will be hosting the number one seeded Trinity Christian Academy out of Lexington in one of the semi finals in tonight’s first game; a team that’s already posted two blowout wins over Somerset earlier this season.

In the other semi final tonight, Bluegrass Baptist out of Lexington will take on Winchester Christian Academy, but at 6:00 p.m., all eyes will be on the Cougars game against Trinity, in a proverbial, David vs. Goliath matchup.

“This is going to be a David vs. Goliath encounter, it’s really going to be that way, all or nothing for us,” noted Ricks.

“We have to play above and beyond where we are, in order to win this game,” Ricks added. “We know that to win this game and knock off Trinity, we have to have 32 minutes of straight hustle. and we have to hustle from the time we get on the floor until we come off it.”

The Cougars, a young team this season with just one senior, has posted only 3 wins on the year, but Ricks says, that despite being a heavy underdog in tonight’s game, and taking a very young team into the post season, his team hasn’t conceded anything yet to Trinity.

“Trinity is a team that loves the fastbreak, and we’re going to have to make sure we get back defensively,” stated Ricks.

“We have wonderful facilities here, and it’s great that we have an opportunity to host a regional tournament,” Ricks noted. “We’re really looking forward to hosting this tournament. We think we can pull off the upset, but we’re going to have to play an almost perfect game to do it.”
