Recently, the Southern Middle School Warriors baseball team won 2 of their 3 games in one week to improve their record to 5 - 6.

First, on Monday night, the warriors defeated the Science Hill Yellowjackets by a score of 15 - 2. Bradley Logsdon was the winning pitching for the warriors as he struck out 4 batters, walked two and only gave up one run in the 4 inning shortened game. Four the Warriors, McCauley Kirk had two singles, Ryan Ray had a double, Jacob Maybrier had a double, and Logan Starnes, Ben Hancock, Bradley Logsdon, and Christian Childers added singles. Kyle Upchurch had Science Hills lone hit.

On Tuesday, the Warriors lost a heartbreaker to Lincoln County. At the end of four innings, Southern led the game by a score of 3 -2. But then, Lincoln County erupted for 7 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 9 - 3 lead. Two walks, two hits and five errors spelled disaster for Southern. However, Southern fought back in the top of the sixth and added 5 runs of their own but it just wasn't enough as they came up short by a score of 9 - 8. For Southern, Zack Turpin pitched the first three innings giving up three hits, one walk and two runs. Bradley Logsdon came on in relief and took the loss for Southern. For Southern, Justin Epperson had two singles, and Zack Turpin, Ryan Ray, Ben Hancock, Cody Epperson, Dusty Phelps and Bradley Logsdon had singles.

On Thursday, the Warriors hosted A.J. Lloyd Middle with hopes of avenging an embarrassing loss on the road from the week before in the cold and snow. And Southern did just that, defeating the Cardinals by a score of 3 - 0. Zack Turpin pitched a complete game shutout for Southern, allowing only 4 hits, striking out 13 and walking none. For Southern, Jacob Maybrier had a single and an RBI, while Ryan Ellis and Robby Lewis each had singles.
